GS1 standards form the cornerstone of exchange and cooperation between companies

Immaterial capital represents an increasingly important part of the value of our enterprises. Efficient management of the physical flow of goods is impossible nowadays without equally efficient management of the flow of information. The implementation of GS1 (Global Standard 1) standards in the data exchanged between suppliers and retailers is the foundation for an efficient working relationship whose end result is greater satisfaction for our customers: faster movement of goods, greater reliability and more security, with reduced costs. Designed to make companies more competitive, GS1 standards are a solution encompassing the coding of products, services and locations, automatic identification (barcode systems, RFID), communication between computers (EDI) and Global Data Synchronization (GDS).
Improved quality The quality of the communication between Carrefour and its trading partners depends above all on the use of standards defined by all GS1 users.
A common language The implementation of a common language i.e. one which is shared by all users allows them to reduce information management costs along the supply chain and to accelerate inter- and intra-enterprise communication flow, both nationally and internationally.
Carrefour's involvement in the adoption of GS1 Standards To improve supply chain efficiency and the satisfaction of its customers, Carrefour is participating in the definition of standards as part of the GS1 Global Standards Management Process (GSMP) and their rollout via local initiatives, as in the Implementation Initiatives in France and Spain.
