Why codify?

GS1 coding of products, services and locations enables efficient management of supply chains

The number of operations essential to the efficient movement of goods and the optimization of the logistics chain depends on the precision with which products, services and locations are identified.

The GS1 system is a set of rules designed to enable efficient management of supply chains on a global scale by assigning unique identification codes to products, logistic units, locations and services. Coding is the fundamental aspect of the GS1 system: stable coding means a coherent system.

Coding also allows us to synchronize physical flow with information flow. This is the fundamental requirement for optimum data quality.
